Information Technology – Project Management & Implementation Department is a dynamic team of professionals mandated with the facilitation and management of significant or cross-functional initiatives by applying project management and investment operations expertise. The department works collaboratively with most business areas and leverages the time and knowledge of business area personnel to ensure that risks associated with CPP Investment Board initiatives are managed appropriately and business objectives are achieved.
Information Technology – Project Management & Implementation is presently recruiting for a Project Manager. This position is responsible for providing senior business analysis expertise and project management for significant cross-functional business initiatives, including execution of all phases the project management discipline, and facilitation of the implementation of new business processes.
Role Specific Accountabilities:

Facilitate organizational project management of significant cross-functional projects that affect investment and operational areas of the CPP Investment Board by recommending and continuously evolving the project management discipline at CPPIB

Facilitate the effective planning of cross-functional projects by:
-
Facilitating stakeholder analyses and ensuring that appropriate representation from cross-functional areas is achieved in the planning process
-
Providing project management and business analysis expertise that may include facilitation of planning sessions, requirements analysis, resource planning
-
Providing assistance in researching, recommending, planning, documenting and implementing appropriate investment and operational systems and processes related to cross-functional projects
-
Lead cross-functional project teams through all phases of the project management discipline and lever the business knowledge of operational staff by providing subject matter expertise regarding investment operations and processes. This would include performing the following activities, as appropriate to each project:

Facilitate project planning meetings and translate outcomes into project plans and schedules

Prepare project budgets by preparing cost and resource estimates
-
Strong understanding and experience with RUP Best Practices, Iterative Development, Use Case Methodology, Process Modeling
-
Identify project risks and develop risk management plans
-
Monitor and provide status reports on project workplans, budgets and risk management plans
-
Facilitate requirements sessions
-
Liaise with IT Development Manager and business subject matter experts to brainstorm and document innovative solution alternatives. Evaluate alternatives relative to original requirements

Facilitate process design, ensuring processes reflect industry “best practices” for efficiency, effectiveness and internal control, and that outcomes are translated into process documentation. Conduct process walkthroughs and validation with business subject matter experts

Participate in vendor selection by co-ordinating the preparation of RFI/RFP material, co-ordinating and screening responses and facilitating subject matter expert evaluation

Develop and execute project communication, training and change management plans

Facilitate change management related to assigned projects by ensuring that communication, training and organizational issues have been considered when changes to investment or operational processes are planned

Facilitate the organization’s project prioritization and monitoring processes by designing and continuously evolving project status and resource management reporting

Represent the CPP Investment Board in appropriate professional forums

Provide effective communications to Project Stakeholders, Directors, Project Sponsors, and Senior Management

Proactively inform other departments of issues and/or key initiatives that affect their accountabilities

Undergraduate or Masters degree in business

3-5 years experience in a related role(s) within the financial services industry

Professional designations – CFA would be an asset, PMI would be an asset
